History

In 1958, Marcel Vandenberghe struck upon the bright idea of boiling or smoking hams for his fellow-butchers and distributing them to local butchers. This initiative saved many fellow-butchers a costly investment.
When the founder, Marcel Vandeberghe, passed away, Eric and Greta Dobbels - Vandeweghe took over the cold meats business in 1964. The factory remained in Ingelmunster, but the company name was changed to Vleeswarenfabriek Dobbels pvba.

Over the course of more than half a century, the company site has been extended several times, starting from 400 m² in 1964 to the current 6500 m². The most recent expansion occurred in 2018-2020, when additional storage space, an extra packaging department and brand new office buildings saw the light of day.
In addition, our team of enthusiastic employees grew steadily. Today, around 40 people are helping to write our success story.

Following a capital increase in 1991, the form of business was changed from a private limited liability company (bvba) to a public limited company (nv), which, in turn, was exchanged for a private company (bv) in 2019.

On 1 January 2005, Mr and Mrs Eric Dobbels passed the baton on to their daughter Sophie, for whom it was a real challenge to restructure the company, to keep the good name Dobbels Meat and to lend the meat products the noble attributes "quality, packaging, service" in order to cater for her local, national and international (globalisation) clientele.

2007 saw a major development when Sophie Dobbels launched the "NOBLYS" brand. Dobbels Meat expanded its activities and started selling its products under the "NOBLYS" brand in Europe.

Also in 2007, the company tooko part in the Gulfood fair in Dubai for the first time, which promptly sparked the sale of our products in Jordan and in the United Arab Emirates. This spurred us on to further expand the export business by attending more foreign trade fairs, such as Sial Paris, Anuga Köln, Hofex Hong Kong, Food&Hotel Singapore and Sirha Lyon.
The clientele grew steadily over the years and that is how Dobbels Meat evolved from a local player to a national and even international player. Its focus is mainly on retail and foodservice customers.

In 2020, we launched our commitment to sustainable business practices. We are paying extra attention to reducing our ecological footprint by investing in green energy sources, water treatment facilities, ecological packaging an much more.

Even today, Dobbels Meat has retained its family business traits, where flexibility and attention to quality are its greatest assest.... the Dobbels Meat DNA.
